Svetlana Tryaskina is the founder of Estee Design, a Toronto-based boutique design firm. Her exceptional work earned her the “Best New Designer of the Year” award from the National Kitchen and Bath Association in 2016, launching her into the spotlight. Since then, her designs have garnered national and international attention, featuring in numerous design publications and receiving accolades within the design community.

In 2019, Svetlana secured a prestigious victory at the International Design & Architecture Awards in London, UK, and in 2020, Estee Design clinched the Gold Winner title at the NKBA Annual Design Competition in Las Vegas. Her reputation also earned her a feature in “The World’s Leading Design Names 2019,” published by design et al magazine.

Svetlana’s approach to design combines modern aesthetics with traditional and ethnic influences, resulting in unique, welcoming spaces that reflect her clients’ personalities. Her interiors are characterized by a delightful blend of art, textures, colors, and practicality, delivering both excitement and comfort.

Born into a family of artists and musicians in Moscow, Svetlana was immersed in the world of art from a young age. Her grandfather was a prominent Soviet artist, and her grandmother pursued a career in acting. After earning a music degree from the renowned Russian Academy of Music, Svetlana embarked on a career as a textile artist in New York City, collaborating with esteemed fashion designers and cultivating her passion for colours, textures, patterns, and textiles. Her tenure with iconic fashion brands like Ralph Lauren, Jones New York, and Escada instilled in her a strong work ethic and professional expertise.

In 2001, Svetlana and her family relocated to Toronto, where she followed her heart into the field of interior design. She enrolled in the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto, graduating with distinction. Over the years, Svetlana has honed her personal design style, earning recognition from her peers and the industry, along with a collection of prestigious design awards.

  • When I traded in my "Partner" office on Bay Street for the "CEO suite" uptown and was afforded an opportunity to do anything I wanted with my workspace, I turned to Svetlana from Estee Design to create my ideal office. I had seen some of Estee Design's work elsewhere and my first instinct was to ask Svetlana to recreate that for me in my new executive suite. But she did more and much better than that. She designed something that was right for ME, that reflected MY personality, MY temperament, MY aesthetic, MY style and MY work habits. Svetlana made a point of finding out not just what I like, but who I am, how I work and I how I feel. Only then did she set out to design my space. In the process, I ended up with a space that was totally created FOR ME because it is ABOUT ME. Svetlana raised my standards and my expectations of what an office could and should be. And she delivered.
